Rose hips, wrinkled rose or Rosa rugosa and dune roses Rosa pimpernellifolia, are all roses that are extremely hardy. Our roses are improved roses that do not form root shoots. The common dune rose, Rosa pimpinellifolia, grows wild in the dunes. The dune roses we have here are just as hardy, fragrant and form spherical black rose hips, just like the natural dune rose.
The rose hips we sell are bred so that they do not spread by root suckers. They are planted with the grafting site above the ground - otherwise they will form root suckers. Our rose hips have all the good qualities of the wild rose - wrinkled rose.
Wrinkled rose / rosehip that blooms once puts rosehip after their flowers. These rosehips can be used in many recipes for different dishes. Several of our rosehips are remontant and fantastically flowery, here you get the wild look of a rosehip at the same time as the long flowering all summer.
Most rose hips and sand roses start flowering in early June and both types are very hardy and perfect for the garden at the cottage. The rose hip is a large, beautiful shrub rose, perfect for the natural garden.
