Ivy is one of the most shade-tolerant plants, but it can also grow in the sun.
The leaves are evergreen and form a dense cover. If it is in a windy location, the leaves may be slightly winter damaged, but new leaves will quickly appear in the spring.
If Ivy has the opportunity, it will cling to the trunks of trees.
When Hedera grows up a wall, fence or trunk, the upper part of the plant will change character after 10-20 years and take on its old age form.
In its old age, Hedera becomes more bushy, the leaves change to be oval and it produces yellowish flowers and later decorative blue berries.
