Mare's grass and Sand helmet are the two most common grasses in the dunes by the summer house. Mare's grass has wide blades and a blue-green hue. Ammophila arenaria - Sand helmet has beautiful narrow leaves and a green appearance, slightly yellow-green. Both grasses are excellent for growing in sand dunes and help to hold the dunes in place and stop the sand drift.
Of course, horsetail and marigolds also grow well in regular garden soil to create a beach atmosphere in a garden, but we recommend planting them in pots to prevent them from spreading too much.
If you want to plant in pots, both are fine for this. Plant in regular potting soil and add a layer of beach sand or stones on top. For pots we also have the extra blue lyme - Leymus arenarius 'Blue Dune'.
