- Annual. Fast growing and cold tolerant.
Has wine-red, lobed leaves that are harvested when they are a maximum of 10-20 cm tall. - The leaves give a wonderful spicy flavor to milder types of salads. Plant in the vegetable garden or in jars, preferably in several batches, so that there is access to fresh leaves throughout the season.
- Protect with non-woven fabric to avoid pest attacks. Can also be grown indoors and provide a green sprinkling all year round.
- Thrives in sunny, porous soil. Does not tolerate standing water. After sowing, keep the soil moist until germination is well underway.
